About

Donna Kendrigan is an Australian artist with a broad practice including animation, media art, painting, sculpture, and installation. Her work traverses the terrain from contemporary design to experimental animation, from miniature dioramas to art for public spaces.

Since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1997, Donna’s animations have aired on SBS and ABC, and have screened at numerous film festivals including Annecy International Animation Festival, France and Ottawa International Animation Festival, Canada.

Donna has collaborated with writers, musicians, and scientists including meteorologists at the Bureau of Meteorology. Donna has received development grants from Creative Australia, Creative Victoria, Australia Council for the Arts and was recently awarded a Creative Fellowship at State Library Victoria. Donna was recently commissioned by State Library Victoria to create a stop motion animation installation for their major exhibition Handmade Universe.

Donna founded the media art collective Hyperrealia in 2021. Hyperrealia’s objective is to explore ways to creatively engage with cultural heritage objects, and the creative and critical potential of augmented reality and mixed reality media.
